Lynx in Fireweed

This lynx was inspired by an occurrence earlier in the winter of the year I drew it when a lynx began to visit our town. The lynx would frequently come into Nenana in search of untapped resources in the form of arctic hares. While leaving my home on snowmobile, I noticed the large cat wandering down the street in my direction. The lynx, being a curious yet wary animal, will usually see you before you see them, and disappear. That made this sighting of the lynx a welcome rarity.
I drew this lynx above the Tanana River Delta which runs alongside our village of Nenana as it is a main artery in the heart of interior Alaska. This lynx is nestled in the fireweed towards the end of an Alaskan summer.
This was my first piece portraying fur in color.
